Patient Services at Acadia
Financial Assistance Program

Free Care Program

It is the policy of The Acadia Hospital to treat all patients requiring care without regard for ability to pay and to assist patients in arranging for settlement of their accounting obligation.

The Acadia Hospital offers a Free Care program. Under this program, medically necessary services will be provided to Maine residents at no cost. If you choose to apply for free care, you will be asked if you have insurance of any kind to help pay for your care. You may also be asked to show that insurance or a government program (i.e. MaineCare) will not pay for your care.

If you do not qualify for free hospital care, you are entitled to ask for a fair hearing. Contact us for information about applying for a fair hearing.

Other healthcare providers may bill you separately as a result of your treatment here. It is the responsibility of the patient to determine if these providers also offer free care. The Acadia Hospital's Free Care Program covers The Acadia Hospital bills only.

Please contact our Patient Accounts department at (207) 973-5000 or toll-free at (877) 366-3662 ext. 5000 for more details.
