Acadia Hospital Offers New Group for Veterans

Bangor, ME – Acadia Hospital’s Ambulatory Therapy will be offering a new prolonged exposure/cognitive behavioral group developed specifically for veterans. This group will be held on Fridays from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. beginning March 16, 2012.
The group will be covering topics that include but are not limited to:
Spirituality, body awareness and mindfulness, civilian re-integration, anxiety & coping strategies, substance abuse, combat stress injuries, intimacy and family difficulties, preventing social withdrawal and isolation, preventing problems with employment, grief and loss and war zone stressor management.
The group will be facilitated by two experienced clinicians.
Ann Soule, M.Ed., NCC, LCPC, CCS - Psychiatric Clinician IV/Clinical Supervisor, Narcotic Treatment Program & Intensive Outpatient Services. Ann has six years of experience working with and specializing in substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and working with veterans.
Richard Bissell, LCSW, Psychiatric Clinician IV/Lead Supervisor, Ambulatory Therapy. Rich has 13 years working with and specializing in chronic mental health issues, dual diagnosis, and substance abuse.
